Description

This is a two-day training course covering hardware and software aspects of Efika MPC5200B with special emphasis put on MorphOS – The Lightning Operating System

Participants will have an opportunity to get acquainted with MorphOS as well as Genesi hardware, Efika MPC5200B – small sized, low power consumption, fanless computer.

Objectives

to familiarize participants with MorphOS – The Lightning Operating System
to give the idea and broaden the knowledge of PPC architecture
to display the extraordinary image of Efika MPC5200B
to show implementation of Efika MPC5200B in multimedia
to give the idea of other alternative systems and hardware
to give the opportunity of choosing other options amongst leading operating systems
to show the existence of Genesi and MorphOS

Schedule

booting Efika MPC5200B via TFTP and MorphOS network installation
booting MorphOS from USB key
short presentation of Efika hardware: small sized, low power consumption, fanless.
introducing MorphOS, a lightweight operating system with 3D based desktop, high responsiveness, (MUI4, a user frendly, fully configurable GUI), low memory and CPU requirements.

3D applications and utilities: Blender, Titler, Lucy, Scube
multimedia apps: Mplayer, Media Center by Guido Mersmann, Reggae, ShowGirls and more...
